Instructions

1. Connect the router to the source of your internet connection--the broadband modem or an active wall connection. Run an ethernet cable from the source to the WAN port on the back of the router and then connect you computer to the router via ethernet cable--plug it into a LAN port on the router.
2. Open Internet explorer on your computer and enter 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and then press enter. Enter "admin" into the box labeled "password" and click the "OK" button; ignore the "User name" box.

3. Always protect your network. Click on the box labeled "Administration" and enter a password into the fields. Make the password unique to help thwart the attempts of freeloaders to use your bandwidth. Save your progress.
4. Click on the tab labeled "wireless" and go to the heading labeled "Basic Wireless settings." Enter a name for your network into the "Wireless Network Name" box and then save your progress.
5.Select "WEP" from the "Securities Mode" box and click inside of the 1 bubble so set your default transit. set your "Web Encryption" to "128 bits 26 hex digits," then click the generate box. Save your settings and continue on to the next page.
6. Set your "Security Mode" to "WPA Pre-Shared Key" and your "WPA Algorithms" to "TKIP." Enter you WPA key into the box and save your settings.
